WHEN IN ROME #VERONICAMARS TWEETATHON:

Greetings from Neptune! In honor of Kristen Bell's new film When In Rome, we're having a #VeronicaMars Tweetathon to show support as well as attract new followers. Our goal is to get people to (1) see When In Rome in theaters, (2) follow @NeptuneRising on Twitter, and (3) WATCH VERONICA MARS! By doing so, we're drumming up the "enthusiasm" that Warner Brothers says isn't there. We believe it's important to have smart, strong, and sophisticated (not to mention ORIGINAL!) characters on television and in film. VERONICA MARS fits the bill, and the rest of her story should be told.

Via Kristen Bell's Twitter: VM fans-please see When in Rome this wknd! if the box office #s are high we have a better chance of being able 2 make a #veronicamars movie!

So here's the deal: It's "Follow Friday" (meaning people normally tag posts with #FollowFriday and name users that others should follow), so help us out by telling your friends to follow @NeptuneRising. Others to follow are @IMKristenBell and the rest of the Veronica Mars cast (listed below).

Also, go see When In Rome and post what you think on Twitter. You can mention When In Rome on Twitter using their profile name, @WhenInRomeMovie and tagging posts with the hashtag #WHENINROME. In addition to using the #WHENINROME hashtag, use #VERONICAMARS whenever possible. This gives us a bit more of a shot of making it into Twitter's Trending Topics (the top 10 things people are posting about).

If you're not on Twitter yet, sign up! It's totally free and simple to use. Just head over to twitter.com to get started.

Finally, the members of Neptune Rising will be chirping in throughout the day on our @NeptuneRising account with information, trivia, and maybe even some contests. Feel free to send us your messages!

Thank you in advance for your help with this cause. Happy Tweeting, Pirates!

OH, and P.S.... there are Neptune Rising 2010 Calendars available! Jam-packed with some of your favorite quotes from Veronica Mars! Get yours today!

VERONICA MARS TWEETERS: We've compiled a list of Veronica Mars folks who are using Twitter (updated January 28, 2010). Please let us know of any newbies that you find (just tweet us!), and be sure to follow us @NeptuneRising ...

EXCLUSIVE! VERONICA MARS CAST & CREW YEARBOOKS: Thanks to Veronica Mars' seriously awesome graphic designer Rick Pickett, we've got a couple very groovy treats for you-- the OFFICIAL cast & crew yearbooks for seasons 2 and 3 of Veronica Mars! Packed with awesome behind the scenes photos, unicorns, and other fun stuff, we now have them available for download. Download Season 2 Yearbook here (PDF, 50 MB), and Season 3 here (PDF, 80 MB). You can also check out some of the exclusive behind-the-scenes pics over on our TwitPic account.

TWITTER IS THE NEW MYSPACE: You may have heard about it--Twitter is very popular right now and we can use it to help spread the word about Veronica Mars and gether strength (or as Warner Brothers might call it, "enthusiasm") for the Veronica Mars Movie movement. Over the next few months we are going to try and get several topics into Twitter's Trending Topics (the top 10 things people are tweeting about that show up for everyone using Twitter). What exactly is Twitter? It's basically an online personal journal where you can type up to 140 characters to let anyone who is following you know what you are up to. Groups discussing a topic commonly use "hashtags" to mark their tweets- meaning a # sign in front of the tag... so for us, it's #VeronicaMars - which makes it easier for everyone interested to follow along. It's fairly simple (and free!) to get started- just go to twitter.com and sign up! Then, don't forget to follow @NeptuneRising, @IMKristenBell, and the many other Veronica Mars fan twitters!

Kristen Bell talks about a Veronica Mars movie at the Astro Boy Panel at Comic Con 09: "EFF YES!" she says!

EW's Michael Ausellio chats with Kristen Bell about a VERONICA MARS Movie: Also from Comic Con 09, Ausellio sits down with Kristen Bell and Freddie Highmore for Astro Boy and discusses VM.

AHOY MATEYS, it's a FLYER CAMPAIGN: One of our members @OHKILLJOY has created some really awesome flyers to pass around. Choose from three sweet designs, or make your own, and spread the word of Veronica like wildfire! The date for this campaign is July 31st.

The idea is to post these flyers in areas in which you are allowed to post them and are visible to the general public. Whether that could be in coffee shops (if you're allowed), libraries, areas close to news/media brodcasters or outlets, malls, or in general: places where there's lots of people. The purpose of this is to get attention from the media, garner interest in the series, and to get people to join the Veronica Mars movement.

AUDIOBOOK: VERONICA MARS PANEL at the PALEY CENTER FOR MEDIA: So it's a bit dated, but fans will still appreciate this gathering of cast and crew at the Paley Center for Media, discussing the series Veronica Mars. Available on iTunes here.

id do the film if i ended up w/ the only copy & noone saw it- id do dvd- but i think VM deserves some props in the theatre.

AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT
VERONICA MARS!

The stars are aligning once again, as the community of Neptune Rising has been fighting the good fight to save our favorite heroine from the depths of cancellation by banding together as one to revive this seriously under-rated series.

Much has already been done to persuade the producers of the UPN/CW television series Veronica Mars to bring the world of Neptune, California back to the screen in some form or another. Hailed by critics and cult legends like Kevin Smith, Stephen King, and Joss Whedon, the series has found a cult following after the series’ release on DVD.

Now, series creator Rob Thomas has been working on a script for a Veronica film. But, the fight’s not over. We die-hard fans must band together to spread the gospel of Veronica, by sharing the series with friends, families, and whoever else we can think of to prove to Warner Brothers that a continuation of Veronica Mars does in fact have an audience.

Check out the site for resources on how you can spread the word. You can also shop for DVD’s, find Veronica Mars gear, get links to Mars-related sites, and connect with other fans of the series.

Thanks for visiting!

FEATURED VIDEO:
"HOW FAR WE'VE COME"

YouTube user Cr8veLcnse has posted a smashingly awesome music video/tribute for Matchbox Twenty's "How Far We've Come" featuring loads of clips from season 3 (and a few from the other seasons) of Veronica Mars. Such a great tribute, and especially funny considering Mac's "Rob Thomas is a whore" line from the show. Enjoy!

AUTHOR STEPHEN KING RAVES ABOUT VERONICA MARS

Famous horror writer Stephen King published an article in the March 31, 2006 issue of Entertainment Weekly in which he raved about Veronica Mars, calling it, "Nancy Drew meets Philip Marlowe, and the result is pure nitro." That it is, Mr. King. To read the rest of his comments, click on this article and scroll down about one screen's worth.

DIRECTOR KEVIN SMITH BLOGS PRAISE FOR VERONICA MARS

Big-time director Kevin Smith, the man responsible for such cult classics as the Clerks movies, Chasing Amy, and Dogma and many others, recently praised Veronica Mars in his blog, Silent Bob Speaks. Smith called Veronica Mars "some of the best TV ever produced." My personal favorite quote, though, is what he said about Kristen and Enrico not being nominated for Emmys. Frankly, I couldn't agree more. At the end, he says, "If you haven't seen this show, good God, get your hands on the Season One box set."  I couldn't agree more.

DOLLHOUSE / BUFFY / FIREFLY / ANGEL CREATOR JOSS WHEDON HEARTILY RECOMMENDS VERONICA MARS!

That's right! The creator of such epicly entertaining TV as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and the Serenity movie had a Marsathon with his peeps and is absolutely crazy about the show, according to a post he made on his site, Whedonesque.com. Joss called Veronica Mars, "the Harry Potter of shows" and begged people to "do whatever they can to check out this first season so the second won't be a spoiler fest."

If that's not enough of a reason to check out the show, we don't know what is!
